I started my day with breakfast in the Riad. Which was actually taking quite a while. The boy mistook me for some other guest and waited for my daughter to appear. Of course 20 min later he realized his mistake and finally served breakfast which consisted almost entirely of bread in different forms.
I was right btw about the dinner and the cleanliness. Both was not worth an award. Never mind, I left the Riad Zahraa right away to go on a guided tour. My guide spoke German, actually quite well once I understood his pronounciation. He took me on tour through the Medina and the king’s quarter. The royal palace is not for visiting but one can pass by the front door. Ha, I think the palace is at least 1 km away from this door.
From the mosque we went to a granary and stables for 600 horses. Really impressive.
From there Hamid picked me up and took me to Volubilis, an ancient Roman city. But before we had lunch in Moulay Idriss, some mountain village where I had Kofte that tasted of cinnamon. Wow!
And finally we arrived in Fes. The country side is basically changing every couple of minutes. The scenery is breath taking and I want to take a break every once in a while to take pictures.
We are staying the next two nights in the Riad Dar Cordoba. My room is large, the heating works and it also has a hair dryer. So far I love it. More about Fez tomorrow. Will leave you with some impressions from the road.
