Books

Rapture Practice by Aaron Hartzler: An autobiography of growing up gay in an evangelical family in Missouri. After reading it I cannot imagine anything worse than growing up in this overzealous community of bible fanatics, my catholic school was pure bliss compared to this. Wonderful insight in the strange workings of the “bible-belt” of the US, explains some issues that the Americans have.

The Mystery of Mercy Close by Marian Keyes: Another book of the Walsh family which I love. All their characters are amazing and Marian Keyes is by far one of the best chick lit authors. Again she did not disappoint, main topic here is depression, something I cannot relate to at all. But the way the story is set every reader understands what the main character is dealing with. Great read!

The Universe Versus Alex Woods by Gavin Extence: Wow, a truly enjoyable read! Loved Alex in his weirdness and his developing friendship with Mr. Peterson was a beautiful thing to follow. Had to cry a lot in the end, so would suggest to read the end at home and not like myself at the airport.

All the Pretty Horses (Border Trilogy 1) by Cormac McCarthy: Am not really sure what’s it all about except that two Texan teenage boys ride south to Mexico and get in all kinds of trouble. McCarthy’s writing style takes a while to get used to but then the story gets to you. Will definitely read part 2 and 3 as well.
